Creative intelligence in advertising is the work of recording what each ad contains, then comparing those attributes with campaign results so the next brief can name a tested element. In psychology the same phrase names one of the three intelligences in Robert Sternberg's triarchic theory. In advertising it names a category of software, and the quality of that software is decided by its tags before its AI gets involved.
Winterberry Group defines the category as the ability to collect, structure, and analyze creative decisions against performance data. That definition comes from its vendor-sponsored June 2025 study of more than 200 marketing executives. Collecting means connecting ad accounts, and structuring means tagging. Both happen before any analysis runs.
Three inputs feed a creative intelligence platform:
Tagging is where the tools differ most. Vidmob's analytics methodology page describes a three-step sequence. Connected ad accounts are ingested, attributes are tagged with visual recognition and proprietary models, and asset-level metrics from the platform APIs are mapped to those tags. Its scoring guidelines list 36 standard checks across brand visibility, formatting, key visuals, messaging, product visibility, and compliance. Tags include benefit, call-to-action type, tone, production type, story type, and sound type.
Other vocabularies differ in size:
Vocabulary size is a trade-off. Each tag splits the creative set into smaller groups. Segwise's October 2026 guide to creative intelligence tools puts the floor at roughly 50 live creatives and suggests ignoring any tag shared by fewer than about ten. A vocabulary of a hundred hook types applied to forty ads returns groups of one.
Outputs fall into three functions, and vendors differ in which one they lead with.
A platform that analyzes results well produces a brief. Vidmob lists briefing best practices as an output, and Smart Insight turns a finding into an action with a hypothesis, a success metric, a scope, and an owner.
Ad platforms report on files. Meta's ad creative breakdown shows results, reach, impressions, cost per result, and spend per creative, and it excludes dynamic creative ads. Meta's creative fatigue status flags an ad as limited when its cost per result rises above past ads, and as fatigued at double. The status applies only to ad sets with a single creative. TikTok's Top Ads dashboard, documented May 2025, sorts winning ads by reach, click-through, and two-second and six-second view rates. Its Video Insights tool adds key-frame analysis for a single video.
TikTok's key-frame view goes inside one video but not across a set. A winning ad bundles its hook, product reveal, pacing, music, and offer, and a report without a tag layer names the top file but not the element that drove it. Native reports also stop at the platform boundary, so the same concept running on Meta and TikTok appears as two unconnected rows.
Google's responsive search ad help page states that the performance label column has been deprecated, while its Display asset page defines Best, Good, Low, and Learning. A vocabulary the team controls survives those changes.
Published minimums differ by tool, and they decide whether a finding counts as a pattern or a coincidence.
Above the floor, a pattern still needs four evidence checks before it becomes a brief: sample size, supporting creatives, counterexamples, and the timestamped scenes behind the tag.
Five dated moves mark the category this year:
Google and Ekimetrics published a study in July 2026 covering 2,096 YouTube campaigns that ran from 2019 to 2024. It found that 13 creative principles, out of 73 attributes measured, drive 80 percent of the sales impact of creative.
Starti Smart Insight is the creative performance analysis feature inside Starti AI Studio. It connects Meta, TikTok, Google Ads, and configured custom network accounts and tags nine creative attributes. Any of them can be compared against click-through rate, completion, and other outcomes over the last 7, 30, or 90 complete days. Each pattern comes with the evidence behind it, and Winner, Scaling, Watch, and Fatigue signals help prioritize the review. A finding can be turned into a brief for an existing creative team or produced as the next version in AI Studio.

Five questions separate a creative intelligence platform from a reporting dashboard:
Creative intelligence is software that tags the attributes of each ad, such as its opening, product reveal, visual style, and call to action. It then compares those attributes with campaign results across many ads and returns a tested element for the next brief.
Vendors use both names for the same work. Motion calls its product creative analytics, and Vidmob and Smartly use creative intelligence. Vidmob and Motion both tag creative and map platform metrics to the tags.
Creative testing produces variants to answer a question. Creative intelligence reads the results of many ads, tested or not, by attribute. The two meet when a pattern from the analysis becomes the hypothesis for the next test.
Motion's tagging starts at ten creatives with recent spend. A Smart Insight click-through finding needs 10,000 impressions, with at least three creatives and two campaigns, in each compared group. Segwise treats results under about 50 live creatives as noise.
Motion lists Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Alison.ai lists Google Ads, Meta, Snapchat, TikTok, LinkedIn, Moloco, Unity, AppLovin, and Amazon Ads. Smart Insight connects Meta, TikTok, Google Ads, and configured custom networks.
